Outdoor Shower Installation Guide for Port Stephens Homes

Nothing beats rinsing off the sand and salt before you walk back inside. An outdoor shower is one of the most popular upgrades we install across the beach suburbs of Port Stephens, from Fingal Bay and Shoal Bay to One Mile and Anna Bay. Here's what's actually involved in getting one done properly.
Where to Position It
Most homes near the water go for a spot close to the side or rear entry, so sandy feet never make it past the door. You'll want it close enough to existing hot and cold lines to keep the job simple, and on a surface that drains well so you're not standing in a puddle.
Hot and Cold, or Cold Only?
A cold only tap is the cheaper option and plenty of people are happy with that for a quick beach rinse. If you want hot water too, we can tee off your existing hot water line, though the run length and your hot water system's capacity both affect how well that works in practice.
Drainage Matters More Than You Think
Outdoor showers push a lot of water onto a small patch of ground, and sandy soil around Corlette and Anna Bay doesn't always drain the way you'd expect. Under AS/NZS 3500.3, wastewater has to be directed to an approved drainage point, not just left to soak away, so we'll tie it into your stormwater or sewer system depending on what your property allows.
Materials That Handle the Coast
Salt air is hard on cheap fittings. We use marine-grade or brass and copper fixtures wherever we can for outdoor installs, since standard chrome tapware corrodes fast this close to the water. It costs a bit more up front but saves you replacing it in a couple of years.
